Soot: What is It?

Soot...
After a building fire, you might see some damage that is blatantly visible or even some that look like a lack of maintenance. This picture depicts cobwebs on the ceiling. However, it is actually soot from a protein fire that has traveled from one room to another and has attached itself to a surface. While this is a small area that is visibly covered in the soot, the sign leads us to believe that the dirt level is more than meets the eye. This is the case for many house fires.
SERVPRO® of Tuscaloosa will not only wipe ceilings, flooring, and walls; but also move out the contents for cleaning, in all affected rooms. Even though it was not close to the fire and items are not as damaged as other rooms adjacent to the cause of loss, the damage spread through the entire downstairs of the home.
