Fire Statistics from Data...
- 51.6 % of residential building fires are caused by cooking, as of 2017.
- A fire department responds to a call every 23 seconds. In fact, in 2017, there were approximately 357,000 home fires in the United States.
- Home fires were responsible for 11,200 civilian injuries, or 74% of all civilian injuries, in 2018
- 74% of all fire deaths occur in the home.
- An estimated $25.6 billion in property damage occurred as a result of a fire in 2018. (This number includes a $12 billion loss due to wildfires in Northern California in 2018).
