Let's talk about soot... 

After a building fire, you might see some blatantly visible damage or even some that look like a lack of maintenance. This picture shows cobwebs on the ceiling. However, it's actually soot from a protein fire that traveled from one room to another and then attached itself to a surface. While this is a small area that is visibly covered in soot, this sign leads us to believe that the dirt level is more than just what meets the eye. This is the case for many house fires.
